Project History

Woodson Heights sits on the former site of Amber Overlook, which was a vacant and abandoned group of high-rise apartment buildings that neighborhood residents were eager to see re-developed. In 2003, with partial funding by the District of Columbia Department of Housing and Community Development, AmeriDream, Inc. acquired the site. Working with the local community and the District of Columbia government, plans for the site included demolishing nine abandoned buildings and renovating two more to create an entirely new community. Renovations of the two existing buildings are complete, and new residents are already calling Woodson Heights home.
